About this property

Welcome to Big Rock Candy Mountain Resort

Big Rock Candy Mountain Resort offers a rustic lodging experience along the banks of the Sevier River in Sevier, Utah. The property features unique accommodations including converted train cars, cabins, and motel-style rooms, arranged in a village-like setting. On-site amenities include free Wi-Fi, free parking, a kid-friendly environment, and a restaurant, while the absence of a pool and fitness center reflects its more outdoors-focused atmosphere.

Set between the river and US-89, this resort is ideal for visitors seeking a relaxed getaway close to nature. It is located less than a mile from Fishlake National Forest and about five miles from the town of Marysvale, providing easy access to nearby attractions such as Fremont Indian State Park with its Native American petroglyphs and the scenic Marysvale Canyon. Outdoor enthusiasts can also enjoy the nearby Big Rock Adventure, a highly rated outfitter offering rafting trips and a high ropes course.

Guest reviews highlight the appeal of staying in the unique train cars and the family-friendly atmosphere, noting helpful staff and enjoyable activities like biking along a paved trail and river floating. Some visitors mention minor inconveniences such as spotty Wi-Fi and limited cell service, which may appeal to those looking to unplug rather than families requiring constant connectivity. The campground and RV park facilities receive praise for their riverfront sites and access to nearby trails and ATV routes.

With check-in at 2 PM and check-out at 11 AM, this 4.3-rated resort is well-suited for travelers who appreciate a countryside setting fused with fun outdoor experiences. While the lodge and zip line were reported closed by some guests, the overall combination of rustic accommodations and recreational opportunities makes it a practical choice for families and individuals interested in a down-to-earth, nature-oriented stay in southern Utah.

What a unique and fun experience! To stay in a cutely renovated caboose (one of 12, arranged like a small village on the banks of a river), with a 9 mile paved bike trail and beautiful mountains all around, was one of my favorite stops. The staff was very helpful in dealing with an issue we had. If you have bikes or kids or an ATV, you will love this place.

The Big Rock Candy Mountain is listed on RoadsideAmerica.com. You drive right by it if you are headed north on 89. You can pull off in nearby parking lots to explore the area. We mainly went for the photo ops but there is a resort, restaurant, rentals, gas station and convenience store at this site. The beautiful multi colored land formations are worth a stop and you can explore them for free.

We run a dog grooming shop and rented 5 cabins for ourselves, our 4 employees, their spouses, 1 child and 7 dogs. The manager kindly accommodated our request to house 3 dog's in two of the cabins. Charity and Sandy were so helpful throughout our 3 day vacation; booking tubing trips, baking pizzas, serving ice cream, etc. The cabins were just steps away from the river and shaded by trees. Bridger was so helpful in transporting all of us, our dogs, and our paddle boards to the tubing drop off twice in one day. We had so much fun!

In an Rv. The staff was excellent. Spot was right next to river. Paved bike path all the way to Rockville, past old train tunnel. Also three atv trails. Lodge and restaurant closed, but can stay in train cars, and cabins and motel. Small supply store. Also rafting. Zip line place was closed.

Our kids absolutely loved this place! We got to do the river float and sleep in a train! The staff is amazing and so is the ice cream! We loved the playgrounds on the property and we definitely want to come back and try out other trains! Just note there is no cell service and wifi was hit and miss. For us that was a bonus for a screen free vacay!

There were a few small issues with our room (no soap in the shower, outdoor lights didn’t work, etc) but our kids loved sleeping in a train car. Floating the river was a lot of fun!

This was a great family trip our family. A magical place to stay. We recommend the Off Road Adventure and renting from Nathan and Heather at Rose Ranch! They take real good care of you. Cell service is spotty but it was nice to get away from all the Hussle and Bussell and relax and enjoy quality time with our family. We didn't have time to float the river because it was too cool in the morning when we had time. But we went to Fremont Indian Park and walked the trail. It was awesome. Recommend Tomatoe Pizza Pie and Hoover Grille. The staff and store and facilities at the Big Rock Candy Mountain were amazing. Grandkids did not want to leave. Either did we!
